Prof. dr. C. (Caroline) Forder

caroline

Caroline Forder is a practicing barrister based in an immigration law chambers established in the centre of Amsterdam. She brings administrative law proceedings on behalf of migrants who have problems establishing their rights to benefits and other social provisions and she brings family law proceedings. Since 2008 she is the owner of a small enterprise as independent researcher, author and trainer. She had been honorary professor on the Rights of the Child at the VU since 2010, before which she held – since 1999 – an honorary chair in European Family Law at the University of Maastricht.

In more than a hundred publications she has focused on the direct applicability of children’s rights and family rights. Topics of expertise include child protection, secure care of children, assisted reproduction, parenthood, family property law, family forms, transsexuality and a person’s right to information concerning his or her origins and upbringing. She supervises three PhD candidates: Nadia Ismaïli (inconsistenties in immigration law and family law), Whitney de Haan (judicial decision-making in child-protection cases) en Susanne Höfte (secure care in the light of children’s rights).
